Beginning with the 2011-12 season * By a 6-0 message board vote it was decided that the unowned teams would not participate in the season, and that half the league members would qualify for the playoffs, as long as they finished with 42 or more wins. Beginning with the 2010-11 season * By vote of 8-5-1-1 on the forum each playoff team will keep 10 players while each non-playoff team will keep 11 Beginning with the 2009-10 season * None Beginning with the 2008-09 season: * None Beginning with the 2007-08 season: * Teams which did not make the playoffs last season may keep 10-12 players at the cut deadline, teams which made the playoffs but did not make it to the semi-finals (final four) may keep 10-11 players at the cut deadline, teams which made it to the semi-final playoffs must keep 10 players at the cut deadline (this was voted on and approved by the EC) * There will always be 24 teams playing in the league each season, if any of those teams are un-owned then their home games will be autoplayed and all of their gpls will be hand-created (by the Commissioner) although the set defensive profile will not be adjusted and they will not be customized for their opponent; un-owned teams will be disqualified from playoff participation (this was approved by the EC) * New coaches in their first season of participation with their own team may not trade the player taken in the 1st round of their expansion draft nor may they trade the next season’s 1st round rookie/free-agent draft pick (this was voted on and approved by the EC) * Un-owned teams (if any) will be drafted by humans, there will be no computer drafting (this was approved by the EC) * Players whose shooting tendencies are rated **** and who are not completely blank on 3-point attempts will have their set defensive profile set to 2 (normal defense) by default when the league file is created, this may be changed by any coach who uses set defensive profile so is just a default (this was voted on and approved by the EC) * If a team was run by a human for at least 2/4 of the season and was run by a human for the final 1/4 of the season and that human would be running the team in the playoffs then if that team qualifies for the playoffs that most recent human would run the team in the playoffs; If a team qualifies for the playoffs but does not fit the above then that team would be disqualified from playoff participation and there would be one fewer team in the playoffs Beginning with the 2006-07 season: * Whenever one team is being controlled by the computer (typically the visiting team) the other team must have at least one PF or C positioned inside on offense at all times; this does not apply to games played live via netplay; this rule will likely be removed if in a future version Strat fixes the computer gameplan to allow the defense to keep its inside block defender back to provide block support against an outside player; this rule passed 13-6 on a message board vote * If there is an unplayed home game on a coach’s schedule then that coach may not play a part of or a full practice game against that team using that team’s gameplan for that game; for example, if team WAL has an unplayed home game on the schedule against SUN then WAL may not import SUN’s gameplan designed for that game and play a part of or a full practice game against SUN’s gameplan; this rule passed 16-2 on a message board vote * Any player who played less than 16 games or less than 100 minutes in the previous NBA season is not eligible to play in the playoffs; however, a player who played more than 300 minutes in the previous NBA season is eligible to play in the playoffs (only 1 game per series if under 16 games per rule in the Constitution); this rule passed 16-0 on a message board vote * Number of playoff teams = 12; this was chosen by a 12-8 message board vote over having 10 playoff teams Beginning with the 2005-06 season: * The new use board game rules for v3 will not be used and emphasize individual defense will not be used * 12 teams make the playoffs (instead of the previous number of 10) Beginning with the 2004-05 season: * Increased roster size to 16-18 (8 rounds of rookie/free-agent draft), 16 is minimum while 18 is maximum * Increased minutes eligibility multiplier to 110% (instead of 105%) for players with 750+ minutes * Balanced schedule hand created by Jason, day 22 ends q1, day 44 ends q2, day 66 ends q3, and day 88 ends q4 Beginning with the 2003-2004 season: * Each playoff series is best of 7 as discussed and/or voted on by the league Beginning with the 2002-2003 season: * I will always wait at least 24 hours before importing a result and I will not accept results which do not include the prt and gfl file and which are sent both to me and to the visiting coach within the same e-mail. If you would like to protest any result then that should be done via e-mail less than 24 hours after the initial result is received or else the game result will be imported and the protest will likely not be upheld (or if it is then it will not result in a game replay). There is a new tie-breaker system which uses NBA tie-breakers, see Jason's web page for details. Note: I no longer have a “play” drive and a “league” drive so when I play games it is with the official league. Consequently, I have no way of holding a game result I play for 24 hours and no reasonable way to back out or delete a game I play. If there are any protests upheld in a game I play then the EC will need to decide what to do based upon this.
