MISCELLANEOUS RULES

* The Press defense (which of course if optional) may only be used for no more than a total of 12:00 minutes in any one game and never when ahead by 10+ points (if the press is on and you go ahead by 10+ points then call timeout and take off the press)

* You cannot play on offense a player out of position as indicated on the web page roster. A player may not play any position unless the roster indicates that he may play that position. This includes a SG -- he can't play PG unless the roster lists him at PG. As another example, a player listed on the web page roster at 45 (PF/C) may not play SF on offense.

* You cannot assign on defense a player out of position as indicated on the roster. As an example, your PF may not be assigned to guard the opposing SF unless your PF is also rated at SF. The only exceptions to this are that your SG may be assigned to guard the opposing PG and your PG may be assigned to guard the opposing SG.

FOR AN AWAY GAME

* When you are about to begin creating an away gameplan make sure that you set the proper players eligible. Match the *Day #* of the game you are about to play (the day # is listed in the sombkw game schedule) with the *Days Missed List* on the roster page to see which players are eligible for that game. Setting an ineligible player as eligible with 0 minutes will not be sufficient as the computer may put this player in the game and this is not allowed so simply set as ineligible everyone who is ineligible for that game. Do not pay any attention to the "Games Missed List" you sent me or else you may become confused as I have converted this to the Days Missed List which should be used by everyone (if you see any mistakes to the Days Missed List please let me know).

* When you are setting your team the way you want (eligible players, lineups, fastbreak, players positioned inside, etc.) if you fiddle around with some of the numbers make sure that:
a) If you modify the total minutes played of any player to zero then make sure his Blk minutes are also zero (or else the game may crash);
b) You are not allowed to modify the InPct of any player who is rated at 0% (may not play inside) or at 100% (must play inside)

* After you set your team the way you want (including the defensive profile of your opponent, if you choose to set this) then Export Computer Manager and make sure to name the file with the proper format:

File name format: AAAHHHxx

where AAA is the away team, HHH is the home team, and xx is the Day #. For example, for Walnut Creek at Sunnyvale on day 6 the filename would be WALSUN06

* After you have created all of your gameplan files for the entire first quarter of the season (approximately 7-13 files) then please zip them up into a single file and e-mail that file to me -- I will post that file on the web page for people to download when they want

* If you want to send individual gameplans to individual opponents that is okay but please do not cc me on those gameplans as I will only download and post the full group of your gameplan files; also, if you do send individual gameplans to opponents then there is no way for me to verify that your opponent used the gameplan you sent and if there is a dispute (which is unlikely) you would probably be out of luck; regardless, I will need you to zip up all of your away gameplan files into a single file and e-mail that to me before the deadline (I will post the deadline)

FOR A HOME GAME – updated 12/12/2004

a) Highlight somiba league, click on Game, click on New Scheduled;

b) Highlight the day and game you want to play, change it to Manual, and click on Play Today;

c) On the next screen click on Manual;

d) On the next screen make sure the visiting team is Computer Coaches while your team is Human Coaches and then click Continue;

e) On the next screen computer manager for visitor click on Import and then highlight your opponent's gpl file and click Open, click Ok;

f) On the next screen computer manager for your team make sure that you have set your correct players as eligible and click Ok;

g) Play the game.

1) For a game you play once you have completed the game then make sure to view the box score, click Save As, and save the boxscore (either as an rtf file or html either way is fine) with the appropriate filename such as walsun06.  You will not use this file unless a problem occurs with step 2 and you do not need to save the play account file unless you want to.

2) Go to your sombkw\print folder, find the html file which was created by the game, and rename the file to the appropriate filename such as walsun06.html.  This file includes the boxscore and the play account.

3) Go to your sombkw\export folder and find the gfl file which was created by the game.  It should have a filename something like “2002I WAL @ SUN 11-11.gfl.”  Do not rename this file.  If you rename this file then that just makes things more difficult for me.

4) (Optional – only for advances users):  Go to your sombkw\summary folder and find the txt file and the sum file created by the game; you may want to rename these to the appropriate filenames such as walsun06.txt or walsun06.sum.

5) Create a zip file containing:  a) the file you renamed in step #2 and b) the file you found in step #3.  Make sure that these files have the same date and time as each other (within a few minutes) which will equal the time you finished the game.  Name the zip file with the appropriate filename such as walsun06.zip.  Optional:  if you would like to also include in the zip file the two files from step #4 feel free to do so.

6) Send this zip file to me and to your opponent within the same e-mail.

If the zip file does not contain both the gfl file and the boxscore html file then I will not accept the result from you and you may be required to manually create (using the sombkw game) the file you don’t have.

Please do not delay in following the above procedures fully.  If you wait then it is possible that files may be overwritten and your game result may be lost.

FOR A HEAD-TO-HEAD GAME (including via NetMeeting)

Consult the league Constitution for the section on face-to-face play.  The zip file result must be sent by the home coach to the road coach and also to me within the same e-mail, the same as for a non-head-to-head game.
